A Use of Juchum Seogi in Self-defence


Let me introduce an example of use of this Juchum Seogi in self-defence technique. Here, I don't intend to suggest a good self-defence technique, but to suggest how it is important to get exact pose of Juchum Seogi. This example was chosen because it is easy to show if a technique works or not according to whether the pose is exact or not.

This suggests you are under attack of being hugged from your behind (like right picture). To show you the entire process of this technique, you can refer to the next serial pictures.

But if you imitate this technique, you will find some difficulty in controling over your attacker in most cases, particularly when he is bigger and stronger than you. It may seem obvious that you cannot control over bigger opponent, but it is not, as far as he doens't know Taekwondo techniques. Actually, this hugging can be vulnerable though he is behind you.

Any way, what I want to say is that you should know the exact point of this technique, not only the overall motion. And the first thing you should know of this technique is the importance of Juchum Seogi, or how it works in this technique.

And it is most common situation for you if you don't know exact technique, inclusive of invisible factors. She intends to use her force, not knowing how to drop her body.

It is following the nature; the gravity first, (Refer to Ch. 7-4-3 of 3JKY.) Then you come to hang your whole body to the attacker's arm, and he will fight the gravity, not you.
